Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar takes a dig at Aamir Khan

Last year in November, Aamir Khan who usually keeps his distance from controversies found himself in the eye of the storm when he made a statement about his wife Kiran Rao wanting to leave India. Post the actor's statement, people across the country lashed out at the actor as well as an online shopping portal that he endorsed discontinued him as their brand ambassador. Now, months on, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar who was in the city to launch the Marathi version journalist-author Nitin Gokhale's book on Siachen decided to take a dig at Aamir Khan.

Without taking names Parrikar stated that an actor and a trading company were taught a lesson for speaking against the country saying, "One actor had said that his wife wants to live out of India. It was an arrogant statement. If I am poor and my house is small, I will still love my house and always dream to make a bungalow out of it."

Further talking about other individuals coming out to speak against the nation with reference to the alleged anti-national sloganeering at JNU earlier this year, Parrikar said that those individuals who speak against the nation need to be taught a lesson by the people of this country.
